Hello, esteemed members of the comic book community and welcome to another electrifying episode of the Bags and Boards Show With ComicTom101 podcast! In case you haven’t yet made your way over to the ComicTom101 YouTube Channel be sure to do so, as there’s always tons of quality comic book speculation content waiting to be devoured by you! You can also check out each and every episode of the podcast on the off chance that you’ve missed one or two!
Let’s jump into things now however, with a brief recap from our previous podcast! Firstly, how about that Ghost Rider TV show getting axed? What was once supposed to appear on Hulu is now no longer happening! A million reasons could factor into the hows and whys, but even if the Spirit of Vengeance doesn’t show up on the streaming platform, Marvel might be saving him for Disney Plus! Let’s wait and see!
As for this last week, we talked a bit about subscription creases. To those too young to have been alive when sub creases was a thing, once upon a time comic books were shipped to readers (if you had a subscription); the comics themselves were folded in half and mailed out. Anyway, comic book family member Streyflexin posted on Instagram three key books from New York Comic Con that were still in their subscription envelopes, and yes, they were folded in half; a groovy piece of comic book history!
When it comes to other big news stories, it was revealed at NYCC that writer Donny Cates would be taking over the mantle of Thor, at least in a comic book writing capacity. Already there’s tons of buzz with this development. From the beginning of his run on Venom, Cates has been planting seeds left and right in the Marvel Universe, especially in relation to the villain Knull. With the dark symbiote god appearing in titles like Venom, Silver Surfer Black, and (potentially!) House of X (to name a few), odds are better than none that the villain will pop up in Cates’ upcoming Thor stories.
And that concludes our Bags and Boards Show With ComicTom101! Granted, there was plenty more discussed, but if you want more, you’ll have to check out the ComicTom101 YouTube pageand/or listen the podcast itself over on iTunes, Spotify, Soundcloud, and Stitcher! Don’t forget to come back every Sunday for a brand new episode!
As always, geek responsibly! ‘Nuff said!
