Stan Lee Comic Book Cover Hunt!

Stan Lee made this week's Top 10 hottest comic list and, no, not for one of his iconic stories. It was instead for a golden treasure Stan Lee tribute comic, given out to a select few at ABC’s Marvel Comics Celebrates Stan Lee event. This special book contains a reprint of Fantastic Four #1 and Amazing Fantasy #15 along with stories from his friends and an Adam Kubert drawing of Stan Lee on the front cover! Allegedly, Marvel has made it a grounds for termination if any of their employees are found to be selling their copy online. Thus far only a few copies have been sold online making this an extremely hard to find the book. With all the talk about this, I wanted to go ahead and highlight some other amazing yet affordable Stan Lee Covers you can add to your hunting list.

To kick off this list I have to start with some Ed Piskor goodness with that X-Men: Grand Design #1 variant. Making its release back in February of 2018, this seems like a must-have book especially with X-Men being relevant again. Now prices seem to be all over the place with this book. There was a recent sale of a 9.8 for a little over $30 and then before that a 9.6 reached over $70. I would recommend playing the waiting game until you come across a good price somewhere in the middle. Also to note this book was a part of an exclusive subscription box called "The Stan Lee Box." I've seen some X-men Grand Design covers be reprinted into wall posters and this is one that I could see hanging up on a wall in my home.

Now, X-men are cool and everything, but a Stan Lee Amazing Fantasy 15 homage, now that should be on everyone's hunt list. Stan Lee Meets Spider-Man #1 is that book. Marvel went ahead and produced this book in 2006 to honor Stan Lee’s 65 years of employment at the company. This one isn't just a special Stan Lee cover, he's also in the book on adventures with the Amazing Spider-Man. Currently, you can even find this book online raw between 10-50 dollars, or just keep your eyes peeled for the back issue bins!

Now jumping back over 30 years we have Marvel Age issue 41. This is a book written by the great Stan Lee but also having himself on the cover as a painted portrait surrounded by some of his iconic characters.

As noted along the top edge of the cover, this is a special Stan Lee issue. No, not just because he's the writer or because he's on the cover, but this issue features an interview with Stan along with his very own commentary. As far as prices go online, it seems to fluctuate between 30-60 dollars raw and in the hundreds for graded copies.
