Hulk #180 Or #181?

Hello, true believers, and welcome to another face-melting Bags and Boards Show With ComicTom101 episode! Like with every week, not only do we work hard and fast to bring you the latest in comic book speculation news, but we endeavor to ensure you enjoy listening to us! And so, we come together once more as a community, ready to sit down side-by-side and discus our mutual love for one of the greatest sources of entertainment on the planet!

Before we get into all the goodness we explored in our latest episode, let’s take a quick look back at the previous episode. In case you missed it, our last podcast discussed the revival of the beloved Matrix franchise. With many of the fan-favorite actors returning, we’ll have to wait and see what new bold direction the filmmakers take! Additionally, let’s not gloss over Batman #77. Just the other week, the Batman book featured the death of a cherished character at the hands of the villain Bane. Whether the death will be retconned soon or not is anyone’s guess, but prices spiked following the book’s release.

Now on to this week’s podcast! First up, we tackled the upcoming announcement of Venom Island. Currently Absolute Carnage is running through the Marvel Universe like a steam engine! However, both Marvel and writer Donny Cates revealed the follow up to the series: Venom Island. For decades Venom hasn’t been tied to an island, but back in Amazing Spider-Man #347, the issue featured Spider-Man and Venom slugging it out on an island Venom had claimed as his. In what way will this island tie to Venom’s lore is up in the air, so we’ll have to wait until December to get our answers!

Next up comes perhaps the biggest and most controversial topic amongst comic book speculators: 1st appearances vs. cameos, and a recent issue of the X-Men comic House of X sparked the debate all over again. At the end of the book, a bunch of mutants are listed, along with their first appearances. Yet what really stood out was Wolverine’s first appearance. Conventionally, people tend to recognize Incredible Hulk #181 as Wolverine’s first appearance, with issue #180 serving as a cameo. House of X and the folks at Marvel seem to have either forgotten this detail or don’t agree, because in the back of the aforementioned issue, it displays Wolverine’s first appearance as Incredible Hulk #180! Is your mind blown? What will it do to the speculation market? Is the end of days upon us? Calm down, folks, because until we know whether it’s an error or not, anything goes. Having said that, it couldn’t hurt to have a copy or two of Incredible Hulk #180…just saying.

Rest assured, plenty more was discussed, but you’ll have to check out the Bags and Boards Show With ComicTom101 to know more! In keeping the show running after the lights go off, we still have stellar audio content! You can check it out, not just now, but every Sunday!
