At this point, we trust you’re aware of our new partnership with Marvel Comics. If not, that’s totally okay, but just know that we started things off with a Thor #1 ComicTom101 exclusive that we put in our most recent Mail Call! It was beautiful! And what about next month you ask? Well, we have another exclusive, this time in the form of Wolverine #1! Let’s be real for a second, the cover is gorgeous and you’re gonna be sure to want it!
Anyway, last time we spoke about the ever-expanding and amazing world of comic book speculation; our show was a meaty one. One subject we talked on was Moon Knight #20 from 2008. With a Moon Knight TV show on the horizon, people are going crazy for the Fist of Khonshu. The point is, issue #20, along with its black and white sketch variant, reprints Moon Knight’s first appearances; people are taking note of this minor key.
This week we kept the content train going and gave you a podcast of near perfection. Running well over an hour and some change, you can bet there was a ton we went over, including revisiting a favorite creator of ours: Donny Cates. It’s become nearly impossible to talk about modern day comic book speculation without mentioning the awe-inspiring Sir Cates. And so we reflected on some of his earliest writing credits. There’s a couple you might know, but there’s one or two that might have skirted around your radar. There’s a story by Cates in Dark Horse Presents #24, but we caught wind of a promotional Iron Man comic written by Cates, to go along with a specific drone for sale. It’s a whole thing and if you want to know more, you be sure to listen!
Lastly, at least in the context of this article here, we mentioned some Thor speculation! Right now, people are more curious than ever about the upcoming Thor: Love and Thunder movie, if for no other reason that it was revealed that actor Christian Bale was in talks to join the cast. We don’t know the role he would be playing, but there have been tons of rumors floating about. One of those rumors was that he might be Balder the Brave, Thor’s half-brother. We doubt it, but anything can happen!
