Galactus Dies and Green Lantern Gets A TV Show

Updated: Nov 14, 2019

Hello once more, comic book family! It’s good to see your shining faces! Like with nearly every week, we have another spirited Bags and Boards Show With ComicTom101 episode to share with you! Don’t forget to also check out the ComicTom101 YouTube Channel for even more comic book speculation fun!

As is our regular modus operandi, we’re going to give a short recap on one or two subjects from the previous episode, in case you’ve fallen behind. With that in mind, let’s refresh your memory with the new Bloodshot trailer. Based off the Valiant Comics antihero Bloodshot, if you haven’t seen the trailer starring Vin Diesel as the aforementioned protagonist, then do it! Thanks to the trailer, Bloodshot books are on the rise and folks are speculating on the character!

With regards to this week, the real fun begins! Let’s kick things off with the death of Galactus! Otherwise known as the Devourer of Worlds and one of the most feared beings in the Marvel universe, the cosmic entity was recently taken down a peg or two. In the latest Marvel Zombies Resurrection, issue one starts off ominously. Earth’s heroes assemble as it comes to their attention that the corpse of Galactus is floating towards the planet. For better or worse, the Avengers, X-Men, and Fantastic Four go to investigate. What follows is…not pretty. Despite this story not being official canon, it’s not everyday one witnesses the death of a primordial force like Galactus!

In even bigger news, DC Comics, or rather their TV streaming service is going into space with Green Lantern and Strange Adventures! HBO Max will eventually absorb their current streaming service and when that happens, it looks like we’re getting a number of TV shows. At the moment, it’s up in the air as to who will be around for Strange Adventures (it could be anyone from Adam Strange to Deadman), but things get super curious with Green Lantern. Marketed as a "Green Lantern-inspired" show, we have to ask, what does that mean? Maybe the show won’t be driven by a comic and will be a completely fresh take. Do you guys want it to be a word-for-word verbatim interpretation of the Green Lantern Corps or are you happy with a just a good story, even if it doesn’t follow a particular comic?

And that concludes our Bags and Boards Show With ComicTom101! Granted, there was plenty more discussed, but if you want more, you’ll have to check out the ComicTom101 YouTube page and/or listen the podcast itself over on iTunes, Spotify, Soundcloud, and Stitcher! Don’t forget to come back every Sunday for a brand new episode!

As always, geek responsibly! ‘Nuff said!
