Buffy Is Back

Hello, hello! Hopefully you don’t feel like we’ve kept you waiting too long for our latest Bags and Boards With ComicTom101 episode! After all, it’s not everyday you come across a podcast quite as riveting and full of comic book speculation! In case you haven’t had the chance, you can always watch the latest episode on the ComicTom101 YouTube channel where there are plenty of comic book-related delights for you to enjoy!

Like with every week, we tend to kick things off with a short recap of the previous week, just in case you found yourself unable to join us. Per usual, we shared a whole truckload of comic book speculation goodness, including a deeper examination into what constitutes a first appearance within the world of comic books. This time around, the focus fell on Dylan Brock, the son of Eddie Brock/Venom. As it turns out, Donny Cates, the character’s creator, had a different opinion than CGC about whether issue #7 or #9 of Venom was Dylan’s first appearance. It caused quite a commotion in the comic book community!

And that brings us to this week! Speculation news is already buzzing with the future release of the Image Comic Undiscovered Country. Already optioned by the production company New Republic and with a creative writing team including the likes of Scott Snyder and Charles Soule, comic book readers are hungry for the first issue to come out! Whether it’ll be a movie or a TV show, the buzz alone is going to get plenty of people to pick up Undiscovered Country when it’s released. Granted, it’ll likely be highly printed, so if you’re hoping to score another Walking Dead #1 you might want to look elsewhere, but hey, a good story is a good story and that alone ought to be appreciated! That said, there’s an Undiscovered Country ashcan floating about in the ether; that might be something to try and hunt down.

In other news, all you Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Angel fans should perk your ears at the following announcement: it’s crossover time! Thanks to Boom! Studios, Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Angel are coming together for the event Hellmouth! With a terrific fanbase, the upcoming series should only bring in more fans! With the title having being revamped to modernize the stories and characters, this’ll definitely be a fun book to check out! A fresh take on Buffy, Hellmouth will serve as an excellent jumping-on point for new readers!

And that concludes our Bags and Boards Show With ComicTom101! Of course we discussed a whole lot more, but to hear everything you missed, you’ll have to check out the ComicTom101 YouTube page and/or listen to the podcast itself over on iTunes, Spotify, Soundcloud, and Stitcher! Don’t forget to come back every Sunday for a brand new episode!

As always, geek responsibly! ‘Nuff said!
