5 Comics To Buy 11-20-19

Updated: Nov 26, 2019

It's almost the best day of the week, New Comic Book Day! Every week, there are a ton of amazing books that fill the shelves of our local comic shops, online retailers, and digital services. It can be really hard to narrow a list down, so to help I am going to give you my top 5 books to pick up. Some of these books are because there is something in the works for a movie or TV show, some are keys, and some just have awesome covers. Below you will find a mix of multiple publishers covering Superhero and indie comics. Let’s begin!

ABSOLUTE CARNAGE #5 – Marvel Comics

This series has been really good so far. This book is suppose to wrap up the 5 issue story arc and I hope we find out what version of a symbiote Dylan is going to transform into, but as Jim Comics mentioned in his Top Picks for NCBD, We probably won't see that until Venom #20.

BATMAN #83 CARD STOCK VAR ED - DC Comics

This book is both a cover grab because I usually love anything Mattina does, as well as one of the mainstays on my pull list. This story arc has been exciting and it is nice that Tom King is back to the style of writing we love him for. I am a sucker for any Thomas Wayne Cover so I am defiantly getting at least two of these. It's chapter nine of "City of Bane," and it's time for a reckoning in Gotham City! Thomas Wayne has joined forces with Bane, and that alliance threatens to throw a monkey wrench into Batman's plans. And as Bane's evil army begins to crumble, the Caped Crusader must face the real force behind it all. As the end of this epic tale grows near, Batman and his allies have a choice: let Bane stay in power and guarantee the city's survival, or risk everything to break free!

Captain Marvel #12 – Marvel Comics

From the first time I saw this cover, I knew I would be adding this to my pull list. The cover art my Mark Brooks looks awesome and I want to find out why Captian Marvel turned into Dark Star and how the Avengers are going to defend themselves against one of the most powerful beings in the universe. Captain Marvel has fought off alien hordes, rescued X-Men, punched Thanos in the face, and literally saved the world. She now faces her greatest challenge: kill the Avengers. Has one of the world's most powerful heroes gone dark? But why? And what does this mean for Carol...for the world? Life on earth will never be the same. Kelly Thompson teams up with Eisner-nominated artist Lee Garbett for a brand-new arc - and a bold new direction!

Fire Guy Ryan and ComicTom said something in one of the last videos that makes a ton of sense. DC's new Black Label series is basically a rebranding of the Vertigo brand. They are taking these mainstream DC characters and putting them in the dark universe of Vertigo. So far, all of these releases (Batman Damned, Harleen, Batman: White Knight) have been really awesome. I am down with getting any new #1 they come out with. This week they have two. I'll be picking up Von Freeze but for this list I am adding The Question: The Deaths of Vic Sage #1. I don't know too much about The Question and I feel like this will be a good place to jump in. For years, Vic Sage has worn the faceless mask of the Question to clean up the streets of Hub City by sheer force of will. He knows right from wrong. He knows black from white. But what happens when he is drawn into a conspiracy that reaches from the heights of Hub City power to the depths of its underground tunnels? What happens when things stop being black-and-white and start getting a little gray? And what happens when, in a secret chamber deep beneath the city, Vic Sage meets his own end...and his new beginning? Eisner-winning writer Jeff Lemire joins forces with the legendary art team of Denys Cowan and Bill Sienkiewicz to resurrect Vic Sage, only to destroy him all over again...and again...

Once & Future #4 – BOOM! Studios

This on going title has some of my favorite story elements. I really enjoy easter eggs, back story, and history. Gran's monster hunting wasn't the only thing she kept from Duncan. He's about to discover more of the family secrets, and the sacrifices one must make to reach the Holy Grail. I will be keeping this series on my pull list.

That's the top 5 books for this week. Let me know if I missed any books you are excited about by leaving me a reply in the comments below. Happy Hunting!
